Supported by a professional teaching
and design staff, Media WORKS Enterprise (MWE) creates multimedia, Internet, and
graphic designs for clients who work in the employability, government, or non-profit market segments. Youth develop
skills by going through a graduated series of
projects that allow them to work as members of new media design teams,
mentor peers, help re-train adults, and eventually seek out and succeed
in related jobs or continue their education. Their membership in Opportunity
WORKS®, a life-long career management system, facilitates their navigation
in the dynamic 21st Century work environment. See an animated
presentation of the Media WORKS Enterprise program.
Media WORKS
bridges the Digital Divide in several ways:
Media WORKS Enterprise
develops technological fluency and sustainable employability among it's
participants by providing a state of the art computing environment within
the context of a learn-by-working curriculum. Participants, or Interns,
are hired by the studio then develop a set of commonly shared essential
skills in design, applied computing, basic employability, and work collaboration.
The Interns form the core group of designers who are guided by a Head
Designer, Head Educator, Information Systems Manager and Opportunity Works®
Career Plan Manager.
